After winning London’s Fashion Fringe Award in 2004, the Brazilian-British duo scored a production and distribution deal with Aeffe and joined London Fashion Week a year later. The team is known for theatrical ready-to-wear in gravity-defying proportions and wild graphics (their first collection presented cleverly etched male genitalia as a print), earning comparisons to early John Galliano.

From Japanese Fashion Week, Freshman Designer Ayumi Sufi made her mark in living color. Mikio Sakabe gave Tokyo Fashion a week slice of her decadently dark creativity. The Ready to Wear assortment was a mix of The Grudge meets Grant Wood's 1930 historic "American Gothic" painting. The stand out composition was the menswear inspired 3 piece suit topped with a whiskey leather ballcap. As dark as this collection was in terms of color schemes, it was still refreshing  because Spring doesn't always have to be the reinvention of gingham and floral frocks. Mikio made me smile!
