The New Hue: Spring 2011
Women Trends — By ObviousMag on November 15, 2010 12:25 AMWhite made an appearance in quite a few of the spring collections, but none were as shockingly void of color as Alexander Wang. He managed to maintain his downtown cool aesthetic without a stitch of black. Wang’s understated, casual pieces were effortlessly chic, perfect for his quintessential model-off-duty look. I was particularly drawn to his use of construction influences, from the white paint streaked through the models’ hair to the stiff canvas utilized for this edgy vest.
Dolce & Gabbana certainly took a more feminine approach to the hue with whimsical white lace, embroidery, and sheer fabrics. This silk chiffon bow tie dress paired with a lace embroidered 60’s style jacket is decidedly flirty and delicate. Even the woven Miss Sicily bag has been updated with white knits. Whether you go edgy or feminine with spring’s monochromatic white trend, remember the key is to keep it more minimalist than garish.
