Homage: Robert Evans is Major!
May 2011Robert Evans’ rise to fame is a story that you have to read to believe. Most people who read about a model’s rise to fame are usually gleaming with joy, sometimes envy. This is one of those tales. Robert Evans [Rob for short] had dreams of being a boxer for the 2012 Olympics, but it was put on hold due to the death of his personal trainer and a photographer who saw something in him that he didn’t understand at first.
“I was training at my boxing gym when a photographer (now my friend), Azza, was location hunting. He approached me and said I think you should model. I was pretty set on my boxing career at the time and didn’t see myself as a model. Life takes different turns and not long after meeting Azza, my trainer died and I was a bit lost. I figured, what have I got to lose? I decided to go ahead and shoot with Azza in London. Three days later he put my picture up on his website and a casting director spotted it and the rest is sort of a whirlwind. The casting director had me meet Bruce Weber the following day. He liked my look and ended up shooting me for Self Service Magazine. A few days after that I got a call from the House of Givenchy, they asked me to walk ‘exclusively’ for their Paris show. Three days after the show, ID Magazine wanted to shoot me. Suddenly I found myself in New York City and signed with Major.” Rob explained.
Robert can be seen in ads for CK ONE and countless editorials worldwide. His blessing is a true testament of when someone believes in you and you have faith, your life can change in an instant and your dreams can become your reality. Bravo!
Special thanks to Tarrice Love and Major NYC for making this possible.
