Capsule Show (Mens) trade show in New York City offered everything you would expect from a trade show. Great people, global connections, new designers and established brands. The event was held on the Lower Eastside of New York at Basketball City, 299 South St (at Montgomery St) on July 22 -23rd.
The Capsule Show (Mens) was like meeting friends in New York City that you haven’t seen in awhile. The staff were very professional and open to help you whenever you needed guidance. The vendors were eager to give insight on their brands and offer their business cards to extent the relationship. This experience was different from the one we had at the Project Show the previous day. We connected with a lot new, little known designers and brands. This allows us to share our discoveries with our readers.
One of our highlights was the various designers from foreign countries like Denmark, Japan. New York designers were more present than we expected at the Capsule Show (Mens). We had the opportunity to speak with the designers and view their SS14 collections.
We were treated and relaxed in the GQ Magazine Lounge with delicious food options with DJ Danga on wax. Refreshing drinks were provided by Stella Artois, Isopure ‘Cocotein Coconut Water’ and FREE haircut touch-ups by FSC Barber.
We had the honor of meeting some impressive designers at Capsule Show (Mens): Armando Cabral, Ben Ruhland for Seyrig Clothing, Japanese designers, Ryuichi Adachi for Big John and Sisii; Devin Carlson for CHAPTER, Laurence Airline, What Goes Around Come Around (vintage collectors), Wood Wood, . Non-clothing brands: Field Notes, and Garrett Leight Optical.
The Capsule Show closed out the opening day with an after party at the Mondrian Soho. I was hype and amazing. Patrons however didn’t get a chance to utilize the rooftop penthouse due to the rain however that didn’t stop them from partying in the lounge on the lower level of the hotel.
The entire day with the Capsule Show was a breath of fresh air. We will be back in September for Capsule Show (Womens).
