Jeramy Bailey Takes You to a ‘Getaway’

Jeramy Bailey is ready to take you to his secret ‘Getaway’.

This Jacksonville , Florida native is ‘Flyin High’ and currently has plans to land on your playlist. This up-and-coming artist has taken Obvious Magazine somewhere others have yet to see until now.

Words By: Leon Christian, Entertainment Editor.

Leon: Tell us what have you been up to since the release of your EP ‘Getaway’? Is there any new music on the way?

Jeramy: I’ve been out doing promotion and working on new music and projects that I’m extremely excited about. A new song (Produced by The Lion’s Den) will be released very soon and I have an album on the way! With this new project, my audience can expect a work of art. In a way, I don’t want anyone to expect anything. I want the listeners to listen with fresh ears and be amazed by my music.

Leon: I would describe your sound as classic with a breath of fresh air. How would you describe it? Who or what inspires?

Jeramy: My music is a blend of different elements that takes your mind on a journey that can be fun, loving or whatever emotion you feel from it.  My family and  friends inspire me because they are talented and always motivate me. My personal life inspires me too. Every word I sing I make it personal. I’m surrounded by music and I can’t help but to love it. Music speaks out so many different languages and I believe there’s a song for everyone.

Leon: What track has the most meaning to you?

Jeramy: Let me see… It would have to be a song I wrote called ‘Flyin’ High’. I wrote it to encourage myself at the time. I’m very pleased how the song turned out and was able to help others in the process. My most memorable moment was when I was 16 performing for adults at a local theater. The crowd went crazy! I couldn’t help but laugh. People standing yelling, “You betta sang boy!” That’s the moment I knew this is what I wanted to do…perform.

Leon: What and who are you listening to right now?

Jeramy: Currently, and for as long as I can remember, I have always listened to a variety of musical genre’s from Pop to Experimental, and artists like Paramore and J. Davey just to name a few. Growing up, my taste was equally diverse. I listened to Luther Vandross, Aaliyah to Ray Charles while also being a fan of N’Sync.

Leon: How do you feel about the music today when compared to the music you grew up listening to? What direction do you feel the industry is going in?

Jeramy: In my opinion, growing up it wasn’t just about a dope beat or damn he or she can dance their ass off.  The artist could actually ‘sing’! We had some amazing singers back in the day. We still do however presently in mainstream.

Sometimes, it’s discouraging to hear songs released that people actually buy and make popular. It  motivates me to put out good music. I feel the industry is going after popular singles instead of awesome albums. I wouldn’t want to release two dope singles and then just slap garbage on an album and end up with disappointing my fans. Word on the streets travels fast and the fans do have a problem saying your album isn’t worth buying. Good music is key.

Leon: As a music artist, what is your ultimate goal?

Jeramy: My ultimate goal is to reach as many people as I can with my music. I want people around the world to love my music, I want to be Mr. Worldwide.

Leon: Describe the first moment you heard your music on the radio. How did it feel?

Jermay: LOL! I still remember… I was going crazy, full of joy and excitement! I was calling everyone I know, texting and emailing saying, “Turn on the radio!”  This was a proud moment and it motivated me as well. Every time I get good news about my music I feel this way, I’m driven by it.

Leon: Some artist prefer the creative process of making music rather than performing. Which one do you prefer?

Jeramy: I like both, but I would have to say the creative process more. If you could create your own child, this would be the perfect process. Taking time to get everything right and exactly how you want it. As an artist, your music represents you.

Leon: Music has such influentially impact on our everyday lives. What is the one song that inspires you?

Jeramy: I don’t have a certain song or can think of one right now that inspires me but I do like this song I was listening to earlier today by Donald Lawrence called ‘Encourage Yourself’. This song is very powerful and is true. If no one else encourages you to live or follow your dreams, encourage yourself.

Leon: If you could live the life of any other person who would it be ?

Jeramy: Hands down, Oprah Winfrey! She is powerful and an awesome person. Oprah has lived both sides, (poor and rich) so she values life even more and doesn’t take her fortune for granted.

Leon: Who was your first celebrity crush?

Jeramy: That would have to be Stacey Dash when she played in Clueless! This woman is like 44 and extremely sexy, even though she’s old enough to be my Mother! LOL!  One night with her… (laughing) okay next question…

Leon: What is your definition of sexy?

Jeramy: Sexy is more than just confidence but being able to back it up! Sexy is being able to take control of time, pause it and all eyes are focused on you!
