STORY OF DAVID
Are you currently signed to an agency? No, not at the moment.
Age: A gentleman never reveals his age, LOL.
Height: 5’9. 5″
Instagram: @meetkingd
Where were you born? East St. Louis by way of St. Louis.
Ethnicity: African-American.
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio.
Why did you take a break from modeling? Well, I didn’t feel as if my desires were being met or fulfilled by the last two agencies that represented me. Eventually, my heart for modeling at the time fell to the waist side.
Do you feel it’s harder to be a model today? Well, the modeling industry is evolving and changing, not just from season to season but from day to day it seems. One day you’re in, and the next day you’re out. The objective is to stay fresh and current.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started in the industry? Every “NO” is one step closer to your “YES.” Stay encouraged and prayed up.
Since your last cover shoot, social media has changed a lot. Do you feel it’s helped or hindered you? Social Media is what you make it. It hasn’t hindered me at all in my career or personal life. Thankfully, it’s only been positive for me thus far.
What music are you listening to at the moment? Don’t laugh but my playlist is so eclectic it’s crazy. At the moment, I’m listening to Earth, Wind & Fire, Anita Baker, Drake, and India.Arie. Ya know, music for the soul.
Favorite movie, tv show: I have so many, but the ones that pop in my head are The Color Purple, Pretty Woman, Death Becomes Her, Coming To America. Now to name a few tv shows I’d say: Living Single, Martin, Golden Girls, ….don’t judge me, LOL!
Favorite designer, fragrance or grooming/beauty product: As far as favorite designers Id say Balmain, Dior, and Balenciaga to name a few. Now as far as fragrances right now at least 4 to 5 Tom Ford joints, Jo Malone, Dries Van Noten and Byredo. My fav Grooming/ beauty products I live by are Dove Moisturizing Bar, aloe vera, and Aveeno Moisture.
If I’ve gotten out of my own way, I would’ve been much further in my modeling career. I know this for sure.
What would you be doing if you weren’t modeling? Traveling the world because there’s so much world to see but so little time.
What’s something uncool that you love anyway? Sitting in bed on Friday and Saturday nights binge-watching Golden Girls, Martin and Living Single reruns, LOL.
What’s the best thing about your hometown/country? East St. Louis and St. Louis area has some of the most talented people residing there. Many greats have come from there.
Place you would love to visit: Everywhere I haven’t been yet, LOL.
Which brand would you love to model for? DIOR, Balenciaga, and Balmain. Sorry I couldn’t name just one, LOL.
Favorite modeling experience so far? My experiences shooting the cover for OBVIOUS Magazine especially the first one because I was still in my “prime” and location shoots are always more fun in my opinion.
Favorite season? Fall and Winter of course. Layers and layers of style and fashion.
Favorite junk food? Flaming Hot Lays Potato Chips and ice cream sandwiches (at the same time). Don’t judge me, LOL.
Where do you feel the most stuck in your modeling career? IN MY HEAD; self-doubt! If I would’ve gotten out of my own way, I would’ve been much further in my modeling career. I know this for sure.
Currently, you’re obsessed with/about? SHOES and Fragrances.
Three words that best describe you as a person? Nurturing. Affectionate. Bubbly.
Favorite entertainer or public personality? Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, and Angela Bassett.
Your favorite quote? “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13
What’s next for you? The sky is the limit. Onward and Upward. Keeping my head low with my eye on the prize.
Any shoutouts? Shout out to GOD first and foremost, My beautiful, big-hearted mother Tracy Slack and my incredibly awesome father George Slack and all my family & friends who truly support me and want to see me excel and succeed.
