How to Survive a Long Bingo Session

Surviving Bingo requires a little caffeine, music, and light exercise.

Bingo, or formerly known as “beano”, is one of the favorite hobbies of many Americans. Thanks to Edwin S. Lowe, we can now enjoy playing bingo right in our own homes or at the local bingo hall. Lowe popularized this game by producing more than 6,000 bingo card combinations in 1929. Today, the accessibility of bingo was made easier by its online counterparts.

There are many reasons why bingo became a huge hit among the elderly and even among the young professionals. One of the main reasons could be that it’s easy to win. Do you know that an average bingo game usually lasts around three to six minutes? So there’s a chance to win the jackpot in just a few minutes. No wonder many people are getting hooked on this game. Even celebrities have shown a great interest in this game including former Baby Spice Emma Bunton, supermodel Kate Moss, British singer Robbie Williams, and rockstar Billy Corgan.

Even if the games end quickly, usually each bingo session consists of 10 to 15 games. So that means that each bingo session will approximately last for about an hour or so. Those who lack sleep or had a bad night usually have a hard time staying up awake; and missing a number is a “mortal sin” for any bingo player. To keep you up all day or night for a long bingo session, check out some of our survival tips below:

Caffeine

Having a cup of coffee is the common solution to sleepiness because caffeine can perk you up. You can order Starbucks’ House Blend with an extra shot of espresso. Just make sure to drink what you can handle or else you might end up acting like “The Great Cornholio” (alter ego of Beavis), who comes out after he consumes a large amount of caffeine.

Music

The only voice you will hear during the bingo session is the caller announcing the numbers. If the caller is as cute as the CheekyBingo as bingo ambassadress Katie Price, then that’s enough to keep the male bingo players awake. But there are some bingo callers who have a soothing voice like Barry White. Hearing that kind of voice may end up sounding like a lullaby thus causing you to fall asleep; so counter that by listening to upbeat music. Make sure that the volume isn’t too loud so you can still hear the caller.

Light Exercise

Since bingo doesn’t require much physical movement, then it is advisable to do some light exercise to keep the whole body awake. You can flex your head forward and backward, as well as roll your shoulders, arms, wrists, and ankles. Walking around the hall during the break can also help keep you up.
