[VIDEO] Recording Artist, St.Jon ‘Wicked Game’

St.Jon Interview

Where are you from and currently reside?

I was born in Toronto, but I spent most of my adult life in London, England.  I’m currently based in Los Angeles.

Why did you choose ‘Wicked Game’ by Chris Isaak to cover?

I chose ‘Wicked Game’ because it immediately brings me back to the time in my life when I was discovering the power of music.  They don’t write songs like that anymore. Vocally, I wanted to cover something that showed range.

Are you working on a full album or EP?

Yes, I’m working towards an album release in the near future.  I’ve worked with some very established names already and I’m looking forward to some more recording sessions early next year to complete the album.

Who inspires you musically?
I think Ryan Tedder (lead singer of OneRepublic) is a genius.  Not only as a vocalist, but as a producer and a writer. Other than that, my music is very inspired by movies.  If when I’m writing I can’t picture the scenario like a movie scene, I know the idea isn’t gonna stick.
Dream collaboration?

Wow, that’s a hard one! I’d love to collab with Lenny Kravitz or do vocals on a Calvin Harris or Swedish House Mafia track.

Website?

My website is www.stjonmusic.com. We haven’t finished it yet, however, you can find me one social media via Facebook artist page and Instagram.

Favorite meal?
I’ve had a lot of food around the world, but when it comes down to it… I usually just want pizza, buffalo wings, and beer LOL.
Ideal date?
I really like to talk (and listen) and get to know the woman on the date.  I’m not about going to the club and trying to act cool with a bottle of overpriced alcohol.  I always liked going to a restaurant that I know will be good and has a chill vibe. The best date I ever was when I took the girl to a show and dinner in the West End of London. Then we talked until they told us the restaurant was closing.  We decided to walk a bit to burn off the food and we ended up talking so much we walked about 4 miles and hadn’t noticed.
Dream or favorite vacation spot?
I’m very lucky that I get to travel a lot.  It’s one of the bonuses of the modeling industry.  Every place I’ve been has been unique and has influenced me in some way.  Most places turn out to be nothing like you see on TV or in travel magazines.  The best thing about being in London was that it’s like a hub for international travel.  I usually go to Paris every year to chill with my friends and eat a few (dozen) croissants.  South Africa has the most amazing landscape I’ve ever seen. Scandinavia is very forward-thinking and just cool in general.  Morocco has a kind of mysticism that’s hard to describe.  There are still a couple places I have to check off my list like The Philippines, Cuba, Thailand and New Zealand. Hopefully, I’ll get to those places soon.
