Marqueze Gordon: Making plans to be an household name at all cost.
Where did you study music? Who inspired you?
I first studied music in honors choir during elementary school in Atlanta then I moved and joined Phoenix Boys Choir. As I continued with school I advanced and graduated as part of State Choir in Arizona. Currently, I receive professional vocal lessons from the world-renowned vocal coach, Ametria Dock, who worked with the very talented Janelle Monae on her latest album. As far as my inspiration, I’d have to say all of the doubters!
Your act and sing. Do you find it challenging to mixing the two?
It can be challenging trying to focus on more than one thing, but that’s what pushes me. I enjoy a challenge.
New York City or Los Angeles?
For my personal life I choose New York City because I love the hustle and energy of the city. As far as my professional life and being an artist I know being in LA is best… for now.
Your brother Omari Gordon is a model. Do you get pointers from him about photo shoots?
Yes, but not the pointers you’d think. He reminds me to be myself in front of the camera. There isn’t a formula to being an artist it’s all about being comfortable with who you are.
Dream Collaboration?
I would love to work with Ryan Reynolds and musically, Babyface.
Describe your personal style?
All-American Urban. I have a hodge podge of style while staying classic.
Your favorite quote?
“Sometimes I want to give up but then I think to myself wait I have people to prove wrong.”
– Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson
What’s next from you?
Big things! I am currently in the studio working on my single with Justin ‘DJ DNA’ Adams who has worked with Justin Bieber and Chris Brown to name a few. It will be out by the end of the year.
