What music are you listening to at the moment? Right now, I’m having a Sade kick 🙂 I also recently saw Daniel Caesar at Afropunk, and he’s definitely been on repeat.
Favorite movie, tv show: Sweeney Todd it’s so tragically beautiful everything from the cinematography, Tim Burton’s art direction, the costume, and set design, combined with Sondheim’s music and an incredibly talented cast of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Sacha Baron Cohen, among others is perfection.
Favorite designer, fragrance or grooming/beauty product: I love the beauty brand Onomie. They make lovely intelligence-forward products which are hypoallergenic. I love their message of “Intelligence will always be beautiful.”
What would you be doing if you weren’t modeling? Host segments on Vice’s Motherboard channel which creatively use my Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I’d also act professionally. I would love to do larger films and shows.
What’s something uncool that you love anyway? Snails! I think that they are weirdly adorable HAHA!
What’s the best thing about your hometown/country? Seafood! If you’re ever in Boston, check out Atlantic Fish for their lobster rolls and fantastic freshly baked bread. Honestly, Legal Seafood, even though they’re a chain, still has some clam chowder. Boston is a beautiful small city and arguably the most historic city in America. I’m proud to be from Boston.
Place you would love to visit: Paris. It’s always been my dream to visit, and it would be amazing to work there one day as well.
Which brand would you like to model? Marc Jacobs campaign and runway. I also am working hard to be able to be cast and walk in next year’s Victoria’s Secret runway show.
Favorite modeling experience so far? Shooting for Tory Burch last winter. It was the most significant fashion brand I had ever shot for at that point and was a significant milestone for me.
Favorite season? Early Spring. I love the blooming flowers and how the entire atmosphere is filled with a feeling of new possibilities and promise.
Favorite junk food? Melon-pan (it’s a Japanese sugary pastry) and churros are my weaknesses HAHA. I also love snacking on cereal in general.
Where do you feel the most stuck in your modeling career? Right now, I am not fulfilling my potential. I have a lot to offer with my diverse background, and I am working on building a team who can see that and help me reach my dreams and beyond. I need to be developed strategically and efficiently. I speak Japanese fluently and would like to sign with an agency in Tokyo as well as Paris and London. I graduated from Harvard with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and am always seeking creative ways to integrate that knowledge into my life as well. My goal and two-year plan as an actress is to become a superhero in a major Hollywood film.
Currently, you’re obsessed with or about? I’m obsessed with green juices. I am not much of a salad person, and so they are an excellent way for me to eat my veggies. Spinach + Ginger + Apple is a magical base combo 🙂
3 Words that best describe you as a person? Smiley. Bright. Quirky.
Favorite entertainer or public personality? Johnny Depp remains my favorite actor. He commits to a character with every fiber of his being.
Your favorite quote? “Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” – Christopher Robin
Any shoutouts? My amazing friend Kate @katekingkong who’s been such a supporter and is a talented creative herself 🙂
