Spotify hosted the ultimate K-Pop dance class to celebrate the launch of Spotify Island’s K-Park on Roblox, a whimsical wonderland dedicated to the vibrant world of K-Pop. The event was held at Spotify’s brand new campus space nestled in the historic Arts District of Downtown L.A.
Now, players can portal from Spotify Island mainland to discover the brand-new destination inspired by the genre. It’s the first of a variety of themed islands that will pop up around Spotify Island in the coming months—and the first in a long line of opportunities for artists and fans to connect in the digital world. By starting with Spotify Island’s K-Park on Roblox, Spotify is continuing its focus, commitment, and celebration of the global genre.
Professional choreographer Bailey Sok taught a high-energy K-Pop dance routine inspired by the whimsical world of K-Park, with a dance to “Gashina” by K-Pop superstar SUNMI, who is also featured in K-Park with exclusive in-game activations and virtual merch. Fans will also get to experience Bailey’s dance moves with her avatar within Spotify Island’s K-Park on Roblox in just a few weeks!
Spotify’s campus, At Mateo, was turned into a whimsical K-Park fantasy world, blurring the lines of reality and metaverse. Elements of the event were pulled entirely from the digital experience itself – bringing in some of those elements like the checkerboard floor of the cafe, the Korean Hangul signs, the bright crystals, and fantastical foliage. Guests were able to enjoy the bright, playful decor, quintessential Korean foods, and a Spotify Island on the Roblox gaming station.
Notable guests included TikTok stars like Radhika Bangia, Tati McQuay, Sarah Lugor, Laylo, Next Kidz, Zachary Reality and more.
Bailey Sok says, “What I love about K-Park is that it really brings to life Korean culture as a whole– the fans, foods, fashions, dances, and everything in between. I was so excited to team up with Spotify to bring this experience to life in a unique way… I am so proud to be Korean and celebrate my culture through dance. I hope that I inspire other young Korean creators to feel empowered to express themselves and be proud of their Korean heritage.”
