Monterey Park, CA-born, Clarence Chow purposely embodies kindness and hope to one day model for Dior, and ASOS, to name a few.
Clarence Chow turned negative comments into a model career, proving he’s the last one laughing. He took the time to answer some questions about his life during quarantine and what’s most important to him.
My favorite feature that I have come to love about myself is my eyes. Growing up, I used to get made fun of for having slanted eyes. People would ask if I could see through them. It made me self-conscious at first. But after moving to a big city, I saw the beauty in looking different.

Some of my interests include fashion, fitness, food, the environment, & social justice.
What music are you listening to at the moment?
I’m currently listening to The Vibes playlist by Apple Music.
What have you learned about yourself during quarantine?
I’ve learned that I am the kind of person, whether in quarantine or not, that needs to stay active and busy. Whether it be basketball, painting, heck, I even tried makeup at one point!
3 things the pandemic forced you to change?
Since I am Asian, this pandemic has forced me to be more aware of my surroundings when I am outside the safety of my own home. And, while I’m not a messy person, this pandemic has forced me to keep things a bit more clean and tidy.
This pandemic has also made me take charge of my own life. For a while, I felt like I was floating by and not accomplishing much.
Favorite movie and TV show:
I’m a sucker for some good reality tv. My favorite show would have to be RuPaul’s Drag Race. I love so many different movies, but my favorites are usually ones that pull on my heartstrings.
Favorite designer, fragrance, and beauty/grooming products?
I remember a tipping point for me in middle school was when I bought my first bottle of cologne. Girls couldn’t stop hugging me! That’s why Bleu De Chanel will have a special place in my fragrance collection. As for beauty/grooming products, I get most of mine from Sephora.
What would you be doing if you weren’t modeling?
If I weren’t modeling, I would probably have pursued a Degree in Anthropology. Human life has always baffled me, and I love learning about the history of humankind.
What’s something uncool that you love anyway?
BEING KIND. LOVING ONE ANOTHER. NOT JUDGING PEOPLE AND LETTING THOSE JUDGEMENTS AFFECT THE WAY YOU TREAT OTHERS. But don’t do it because it’s cool, do it because it’s what should be in the first place.
What’s the best thing about your hometown/country?
The best thing about my country is that it’s a land of cultural diversity. From the special holidays to all the different types of foods, growing up in America has given me the opportunity to see a lot of what the world has to offer.
Place you would love to visit?
My dream is to visit Venice, Italy, before the ocean fully engulfs this most beautiful region. I also plan on backpacking around South East Asia after all the travel restrictions are lifted.

Which brand would you love to model?
I would love to work for ASOS, Calvin Klein, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and TOPMAN.
Favorite modeling experience thus far?
My favorite modeling experience would have to be walking for NYFW and having been posted the official Vogue website after the shows. It was indeed a surreal moment.
What are some of your challenges as a model?
My challenge is not to let things that are out of my control affect me so deeply. I always overthink, and it doesn’t do me any good. But I have learned to take things more lightly as a model. A no doesn’t mean that I’m not good enough. It simply means I wasn’t what they were looking for at the time.
Your favorite feature on your body?
My favorite feature that I have come to love about myself is my eyes. Growing up, I used to get made fun of for having slanted eyes. People would ask if I could see through them. It made me self-conscious at first. But after moving to a big city, I saw the beauty in looking different.
Currently, you’re obsessed with or about?
I recently found my new obsession with Pressed Juice. I drink a glass every morning alongside my breakfast, and I feel so much healthier.
3 Words that best describe you as a person?
Empathetic. Kind. Unconventional.
Any shoutouts?
To my dearest Mother,
Thank you for teaching me how to be a kind and understanding person! My love and appreciation for you are unparalleled.
