We recently attended the celebratory grand opening of West Hollywood’s newest dining gem known as AllSpice Kitchen And Grill.
A concept created by London Restaurateur & Chef, Justin Saunders, AllSpice holds its own on the Sunset Blvd strip as a contender of fine international cuisine at the best prices in the neighborhood.
The AllSpice Kitchen And Grill launch drew in the attention of various stars and media personalities including actress, Shiva Negar; BET’s Cierra Brooks; actors, Jahid Reeves and Donny Carrington, and host of CNN’s African Voices, Keturah King.
While we enjoyed several of Justin’s signature apps and sipped on the in house “Handsome Ginger” organic cocktails, we took a moment to chat with Justin about his business concept and plans for AllSpice’s future.

Tell us how did you come up with the concept for AllSpice? As an artist, I wanted to create something… But I wanted to present a vision that was ALL inclusive for everybody! One that could be long-lasting and that everybody can get to enjoy.
Food/Sustenance is life, so that was one major component which I thought all people could relate to. Then, having an eye for design, I set about putting the pieces together for an eclectic global restaurant, fusing popular dishes from around the world.
The name is metaphorical and literal. It almost seemed too good to be true as an authentic Spice that we actually use, so we just ran with it.
Do you have a favorite or signature dish? I love a good Roast! My perfect plate consists of Lamb, Chicken, or Turkey; Crispy Potatoes with Mac & Cheese Or Cauliflower Cheese; Brussels Sprouts mixed with a creamy coleslaw; and gravy to top it off. Yummm!
Why was the Sunset Strip vital to you in regards to location? Simply put, I lust to live here. It’s my community. But, if we go deeper, it’s also something unique and metaphorical about chasing the sun.
Having a “yellow brick road” to follow… I like the way it sounds.
Tell us about your upbringing and what inspired you growing up?
As an art major, I have always been inspired by art, color, food, and adventure.
The universe is full of opportunities, and I’m so thankful for my education and worldly experiences and the people along my journey who have to lead me to this very moment.
I haven’t always had support and have often been told to stop “dreaming,” so this is the ultimate success for me. I did what I said I would do, and I look forward to growing my business and offering franchise AllSpice locations soon.
Any plans to open more AllSpice Kitchen And Grill restaurants in Los Angeles or throughout the U.S.? Absolutely. The next one is in Culver City, then hopefully something on the beach. Keep following that yellow brick road/sunset!
