Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Flint, Michigan.
15-20 years ago, you were at the top of your game in the modeling industry. Are you still currently modeling?
Mike Anderson: Yes, I’m still currently modeling. Modeling is a job that I hope to continue doing for many more years. I love to travel, meet new people and learn about different cultures.
There’s so much in the world to see, and modeling has always provided that for me.
Looking at your fitness and wellness videos on Instagram, what drives you?
Mike Anderson: The reason why driven by a fitness, health and wellness lifestyle is what this lifestyle has done for me. I’ve been able to create an incredible balance in my personal life.
By using all of the different modalities of fitness, health, and wellness to better manage my mental, emotional, spiritual and physical parts of my life. I feel it is my purpose in life to share it with the world. This type of lifestyle has given me the ability to have better connectivity with people.
To manage stressful situations in a much calmer state of mind and I’m able to enjoy life with much less fear of the unknown. Last but not least I’m healthier, happier and feel much more confident with the way I look physically.
What are your Top 3 fitness exercises?
My top 3 exercises that I live by are push-ups, pull-ups, and planks.
Kale or Spinach?
Mike Anderson: Both kale and spinach are leafy green superfoods. While both offer win-win nutritional benefits full of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, kale wins by a fraction!
The truth is, you can’t go wrong with raw greens but when you want an extra powerful punch, go with kale.
Smoothie or Fresh Squeezed Juice?
Mike Anderson: Unlike juices, smoothies consist of the entire fruit or vegetable skin and therefore contain the fiber. With juice, you can pack more fruits and veggies into a single serving than you can into a smoothie.
Don’t make your food too complicated. Both choices are healthy, be mindful of your serving size. I prefer both smoothies and juice.
What are your intentions and goals for our readers?
Mike Anderson: My intentions and goals for our readers are to encourage, motivate, educate, inspire, challenge and share a lifestyle that will only enhance our reader’s lives. It’s an honor and a privilege to have this opportunity.
Fitness and wellness is a billion-dollar business. What perspective are you going to offer to stand out from the crowd?
Mike Anderson: That’s an excellent question. The fitness industry is very saturated with many talented fitness coaches, fitness tips and programs to follow. What will make me stand out is the unique style that I have been working on for the last 15yrs.
One thing I will continue to do is educate myself so that I can provide our readers with current and up-to-date information.
Any fitness pet peeves?
Mike Anderson: My biggest fitness pet peeve is bad posture while working out. Bad posture creates muscle imbalances and eventually leads to injuries.
Do you have any plans to produce fitness videos and apparel in the future?
Yes. I do have plans for fitness videos, clothing apparel and become an author of a book. My ultimate goal is to have a fitness TV show.

Fitness & Wellness Questions
How much water should we drink per day?
Mike Anderson: Take your body weight and cut that in half. Whatever that number is, drink it in ounces. For example, I weigh 200 pounds, cut it in half that equals 100 pounds, so I drink 100 ounces of water, daily.
By getting your daily water intake, you help yourself detox the body and shred a few pounds. A lot of you probably already know many times we may think we are hungry, but we are dehydrated. Food for thought drink water, my friends.
How much protein should a man and woman intake per day?
Mike Anderson: The DRI ( Dietary Reference Intake) is 56 gram per day for the average sedentary man and 46 grams per day for the average sedentary woman.
Is soy better for men or men?
Mike Anderson: That is an interesting question. Studies show men who consume a lot of soy will start to produce estrogen. There have been studies that show women who consume a lot of soy have a much lower chance of getting cancer.
I’m not an expert on this subject. To be on the safe side consult with a nutritionist and or your doctor for more information about soy intake.
What are the best core exercises for abs?
Mike Anderson: Planks would be #1 because planks activate the entire core. Your core goes from your shoulders to your knees, 360 degrees around your body. Your core is not just your abs. After strengthening your entire core, I recommend more advanced abdominal exercises.
How can you build your chest at home if you can’t afford a gym membership?
Mike Anderson: Push-ups are one of my favorite exercises because you can perform so many variations of the push-up. This exercise not only strengthens the chest, but it also activates all of the global muscles of the body.
A push-up can also be a form of cardio. When in a push-up position, your head is below your heart, which causes the heart rate to rise. If you aren’t a big fan of running, try doing more push-ups.
If having a gym membership doesn’t fit into your budget, you can still get a great work out at home. Sometimes I don’t feel like going to the gym. You can achieve fantastic body weight and do gravity workouts at home.
All you need is you and a pulse. No excuses! Get to work.
