Has traveling been a window or mirror for you?
Traveling has definitely been a big window for me into what the world has to offer. There have been good, bad, and humbling experiences. I’m a firm believer in thinking traveling should be more than just a luxury vacation, but an opportunity to immerse yourself into all different types of cultures and walks of life (high & low).
What’s one misconception that people have about traveling abroad while Black?
I think one misconception people have when traveling while Black is everyone is going to be racist. Something similar to experiences in America, where you can be judged based on the color of your skin tone. When I travel international, people are most interested in people who are different from the usual.
What’s one piece of advice that you would give to someone that wants to inquire more about traveling abroad?
A piece of advice I would give to inquiring minds would be never to be afraid to learn on own. Start by making a list of 5 places you want to travel to, and then use the power of the Internet LOL — research things you would like to experience.
Would you travel with a group? How many is the max number you would travel?
I love traveling with a group but the majority of the time I’m always alone when I travel. There is no max of people I wouldn’t want to travel with, the more, the merrier. Which means more connections and rememberable experiences you’ll have with multiple people.
What’s your one MUST HAVE while traveling?
A drone! I love scenery and nature, the ariel views you can see, and footage you can capture is unbelievable. I feel every traveler should invest in one. It would be your best friend from above. Without my drone, I feel like I’m missing out on all the best footage.
