Raven Roberts Interview
Creating social media content is a lot of work. Where do you get inspiration for content?
I get inspiration from so many places. Sometimes it’s other creators, sounds or music, movies, or TV shows.
Describe your style in 3 words.
- Chic
- Trendy
- Sexy
What trend(s) do you wish would go away?
Low-rise anything. It’s just not for me.
What are your must-have trends for Spring/Summer?
I’m definitely looking forward to mini skirts, technicolor evening wear, and suiting.
Social media has created a lot of ‘Wardrobe Stylists.’ Do you believe there’s a certain amount of work ethic and experience to deem oneself as a Wardrobe Stylist?
I think you have to be able to dress different body types and people in different styles to be considered a Wardrobe Stylist. If all your clients look the same, you are not a stylist.
How do you inspire your women clients through your gift of style?
I like to inspire my clients to push past their boundaries to achieve their style goals. I love when my clients feel their best selves and can achieve a style they didn’t think was possible.
I see you’ve moved into the Tiktok Community. How has it been for you as a Black Content Creator?
TikTok has been great! You can grow quickly and really find your tribe! But unfortunately, it’s like most platforms when it comes to racism.
Black Content Creator often don’t feel valued in these spaces (social media). Do you share the same sentiments?
I do, and it’s even more challenging the darker you are. We get undervalued and underpaid by companies. And often, you have to have a certain “aesthetic” to gain traction.
We’re all activists to some degree. Where does your activism reside?
I have an organization called ‘Own Your I Am’ that advocates and raises awareness about colorism.
What is your definition of self-care?
Self-care is anything that helps me distress and something I love to do. For me, it’s watching TV.
You are very close to your mother. Did she inspire your sense of style?
She definitely has! She is why I love clothes and shopping as much as I do. She always encouraged me to wear what I loved and not conform or be bounded by what others think.
What are the Top 3 looks you’ve created for social media?
- This look was created for one of my color palette videos, and I fell in love with it as soon as I put it on.
- This was one of my looks in Tulum. I love how the pave details in the bikini and sandals luxes up an otherwise simple bikini/coverup look. I added a Star crawler earring which would also stay in place if I decided to go swimming.
- I wish I had more occasions to wear this dress. I bought it specifically for this trip, and it worked out perfectly. I also love to wear and buy Black-Owned as much as possible.
Dream destination to create content?
My dream destination is the Maldives or Bali. I would love to go there, relax, eat delicious food and create beautiful content!
