Beauty Story 1: Lashing Out

Words by Raygon Fields

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then it’s time to add some curtains! Faux and novelty lashes over the last year have become common place in the beauty cabinets of the extrovert fashionistas, as well as, being an excellent notion to upgrade comp cards and head shots of an aspiring catwalk queen. Although the average pair of faux lashes equals in cost to your favorite cup of coffee, it’s a small beauty application that can enhance your image and possibly get you noticed by a beauty or cosmetics brand whose looking for a fresh face.

Here’s the scoop on how to apply the lashes and fashion your features toward glamour and high fashion imagery for your next shoot or a night on the town!

How to apply False Lashes

. Apply lashes as final stage of eye makeup.
. Peel lashes off package with tweezers and trim band (with scissors) to fit width of your eye.
. Apply a thin line of adhesive along the band of the lashes - Never apply directly to the eye.
. Let adhesive set for 30 seconds or until sticky.
. Place the false lash close to the base of your natural lashes and press ends in to place. Using a tweezers can often aid in getting it as close as possible to your natural lash line.
. To secure the lash firmly, gently press down the lash grip from one end to the other until adhesive is dry.
. If you have concerns about being able to see the lash line, use liquid liner to cover it. Liquid is best as pencil will drag the lash off!.
. Carry glue in your purse in case of unanticipated emergencies.

How to remove False Lashes

. Gently peel lash strip from outer to inner corners of lid.
. Peel off adhesive residue and place back in package until next use.
. If using individual lashes, use oil based make-up remover.
. Do not attempt to remove lashes by simply pulling them off. This will pull out your own eyelashes along with the false ones.

Tips

. When wearing a full strip of lashes cut the strip to fit the eye, do your best to avoid an application too close to the inner corner of your eye.
. Choose a faux style that compliments your own lashes.
. For Party wear, refrain from wearing over the top eye makeup when using glitter lashes.
. If novelty lashes aren’t in your beauty budget, buy an inexpensive pair and decorate them yourself.

Nailed It-RGB

Words by Raygon Fields

What better way to spring into a new season with eye-catching color to fancy your hands and feet! RGB, an acronym for the Red, Blue, and Green color model, has successfully marketed their products on this simple premise; accessorize your look with nail color. Similar to a favored scarf or pair of sunglasses, a signature hue should become an extension of   your wardrobe and a component to your personal style.

What’s even more helpful is RGB polishes are free of harsh chemicals, so you need not worry about the yellowing effects of toluene or formaldehyde additives damaging your nail bed.  Although conventional nail tint application seems to be a thing of the past, RGB shades are considerably more cost effective than the current nail film application.

Whether you choose to turn up your sexy in a shade of TOO REDD or  volume your vamp in OXBLOOD, RGB has just the right colors you’ll need to keep those fingers and toes primed for the perfect pose on your next swimsuit shoot!
